On 8th February 2026, I had the privilege of participating in a community medical camp organized by KMC Clinic, Kalampoor in association with Indian Medical Association Kothamangalam. The camp was conducted at Irshadiya School, Kothamangalam, with the aim of improving access to specialist healthcare services.
Representing the ENT Department of Baby Memorial Hospital (BMH Thodupuzha) and Excell ENT Clinic Muvattupuzha, I focused on delivering essential ENT services to the local community.
Services Provided
- Consultation for chronic ear, nose, throat, and breathing-related conditions
- Head and neck cancer screening
- Portable endoscopy evaluation
Why Outreach Matters
Head and neck cancers often present late due to lack of early screening and awareness. By taking portable endoscopic services directly to the community, we reduce delays in diagnosis and improve the chances of early intervention.
- Medical outreach programs like these play a crucial role in:
- Early detection of serious conditions
- Increasing awareness about warning signs
- Making specialist care accessible beyond hospital walls
Community-based initiatives remind us that healthcare is not confined to clinics and operation theatres — it extends to schools, villages, and public spaces where people live and work. Grateful to the organizers, fellow doctors, and volunteers who made this initiative meaningful and impactful.
